3 Reasons Why Your Roof Should Be Your Home's Crowning Glory And Chosen Carefully

Roofs do so much for people's homes. If it were not for the roof on your home, you would be exposed to all of the weather and seasonal elements all of the time. If it is time to change and/or replace the roofing on your home, you should choose the new roofing materials very carefully. The roof is your home's crowning glory, and should reflect that. Here is why.

1. Your Home Should Stand for All Time

You want your home to last as long as you do, maybe longer. It cannot do that if you make a poor choice about which roofer to hire and what materials to use. Homes in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, etc., have all stood for hundreds of years. Why do you think that is? It is because they had owners that knew that the roof was everything to the rest of the home.

2. It Should Say Something About Your Home

A roof that lasts belongs to a house that lasts, which in turn belongs to an owner that took great pride and great care in keeping up and maintaining the home. In public records over the years, will it say your name next to your home's address and whether or not the home survived for decades while you lived in it? If it does, it means that future generations will know that you made good choices in keeping the home protected and having the best roof possible to protect the rest of the house.

However, that does not mean that your home cannot have a beautiful roof, too. Metal roofing, which lasts the longest, is now manufactured to look like wooden shaker shingles, tiles, or anything else you like. Dog-ear wood tiles are now manufactured with a special sealant that prevents rain, ice, snow, hail, and sleet from damaging them and causing leaks. Terra cotta tiles last almost as long as metal roofing, and they are an attractive way to roof a home. Each says something about the style of the house and the attention to detail.

3. It Should Come With a Transferrable Warranty

Nothing is quite so glorious as hearing that the roofing material you chose comes with a transferrable warranty. This means that if you choose to sell the home while the roof is still under warranty, the buyers get the same warranty coverage transferred to them. Not many roofing companies or materials manufacturers offer this, but if you can get it, it is like crowning your home with gold.
